Can't Adopt But Want to Help?

Not everyone is in a position to adopt—and that's okay! There are so many ways you can make a difference for dogs in need.

⚓ Become a Foster! ⚓

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways you can help save lives.

All supplies needed to care for your foster dog are provided—including food, crate, leash, collar, toys, and any necessary veterinary care. Fostering is completely free—you simply provide a safe home, love, stability, security, and basic training to help prepare a dog for their forever family.

Whether you can foster for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, we'd love to have you on our crew!

We are always looking for:

• Long-term fosters

• Short-term fosters

• Vacation coverage for existing foster families

• One- to two-week emergency fosters while we secure a longer-term placement

Every foster home opens a kennel space and gives another dog a second chance.

⚓ Help with Transports! ⚓

Can't foster? You can still play a huge role in saving lives!

We are always looking for volunteers to help transport dogs to and from:

• Shelters

• Veterinary appointments

• Foster homes

• Adoption events

• Meet-and-greets

• And more!

Even helping with one transport every once in a while makes a tremendous difference.

To join our volunteer transport team, email us at firstmaterescue@yahoo.com and we'll add you to our Facebook transport group.

⚓ Support Our Mission! ⚓

You never know who may be looking for their next best friend—or who might be inspired to foster, volunteer, or donate because of a simple share.

Every share, every dollar, every mile driven, and every foster home helps another dog find safe harbor. Thank you for being part of the First Mate crew! ⚓🐾
